Ecology Minor

The Ecology Minor may be combined with an bachelor degree except Biology or Ecology.  BIOE courses endorsed as substtutions for select Ecology Minor requrement are offered through the University of Montana Flathead Lake Biology Station (FLBS).

Select 1 course/4 credits from the following:


  • Any 300/400 level BIOE course 4 Credit(s)

Select 3 courses/12 credits 200-400 level from the following rubrics:


(At least one course must be at the 300-400 level)

  • BIOE/BIOM/BIOO/WILD 12 credit(s)

Total: 28 Credits


Ecology Minor Advising Protocol for Math and Science Degrees


Students who are planning to declare the Ecology minor with any of the following majors should consider the following course options when constructing the Ecology Minor.

 

BS Environmental Science, Wetlands Management Option:

  • BIOB 160   – fulfills general education and BS Environmental Science degree requirements
  • BIOO 220   – Botany fulfills a Wetlands Management Option requirement
  • BIOE 425   – Wetlands Ecology fulfills a Wetlands Management Option requirement
  • BIOO 435   – Plant Systematics fulfills a Wetlands Management Option requirement
  • 2 courses / 8 cr. of free electives in the BS Environmental Science degree
  • 1 course / 4 cr. additional coursework to complete the Ecology Minor

 

BS Sustainability, Environmental Naturalist Option:

  • BIOB 160   – fulfills general education and BS Environmental Science degree requirements
  • BIOO 220   – Botany fulfills an Environmental Naturalist Option Group 2 requirement
  • BIOE 370   – General Ecology fulfills an Environmental Naturalist Option Group 2 requirement
  • 2 courses / 8 cr. of free electives in the BS Environmental Science degree
  • 2 courses / 8 cr. additional coursework to complete the Ecology Minor

 

BS Sustainability, Natural Resource Stewardship Option, BS Environmental Science, Geology or Sustainable Natural Resource Management Options:

  • BIOB 160   – fulfills general education and BS Environmental Science degree requirements
  • 2 courses / 8 cr. of free electives in the BS Environmental Science degree
  • 4 courses / 16 cr. additional coursework to complete the Ecology Minor

 

BS Mathematics:

  • BIOB 160   – fulfills general education and BS Mathematics degree requirements
  • 6 courses / 24 cr. from a total 40 cr. of free electives in the BS Mathematics degree requirements
